VALAWAI organise the special session entitled ‘AI with Awareness Inside’ at the upcoming ICAART 2024 conference in Rome. The session will take place on 24th February, and it will serve as a platform for showcasing groundbreaking research and fostering collaboration among industry leaders, researchers, and practitioners in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Luc Steels (Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Barcelona) and Giulio Prevedello (Sony Computer Science Laboratory, Paris) will be the co-chairs of the event.
The ‘AI with Awareness Inside’ session is a part of the conference’s portfolio, highlighting innovative projects and research endeavors focused on advancing AI technologies with a focus on awareness and consciousness. With an open call for submissions, VALAWAI received an overwhelming response from Awareness Inside-EIC Pathfinder Challenge portfolio members, resulting in the acceptance of seven papers that will be featured prominently in the conference proceedings.
In addition to the special session, the conference will feature three other activities aimed at enriching participation:
- An opening panel on ‘Large Language Models and Artificial Consciousness,’ chaired by Luc Steels, featuring renowned experts Antonio Chella, Giuseppe Attardi, and Anna Morbiato.
- A meeting of the portfolio PIs or representatives, chaired by Roumen Borissov, providing a platform for collaboration and discussion among portfolio projects.
- A keynote address by Antonio Chella, one of Europe’s leading experts on awareness and artificial consciousness.
